HP has stepped up and is offering several models of laptops with an optimized version of Ubuntu for them. Catch is you have to buy the laptop (it comes with a version of DOS) and you have to ask them to send the Ubuntu CD. Also they will be, so far, only available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

As the author of the article points out, though, a major manufacturer is throwing some real hardware support behind Linux. And Ubuntu at that! :smile:
