Dear Sirs:

Today I received an infraction relating to this thread and a perceived insult toward members. I hardly believe that this is either proportional to the "offense" - which was a comment made in half-jest about a land mass - or consistent with other non/enforcements of rules.

There have been people on these forums that openly insult the US, referring to state-sponsored terrorism, militarism and perceived corruption. In this thread:

http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=369115

a poster claims that the members of a particular political party are "unenlightened", which both accuses stupidity and flies in the face of:

1. *ALL* posts and replies must be polite and courteous. You are never free to degrade, demean, humiliate, provoke and/or attack other forum members, ethnic groups or political groups, etc.

In this thread:

another poster implies that the members of the American military "seem to" come from trailer parks.

Both of these posts stand in their original conditions and places.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with this picture?

Not that its my place to tell all of y'all how to do your jobs, but please exercise consistency.
