I think Canonical should really push hard to get an agreement with Dell to allow the option of these becoming preinstalled with Ubuntu or at least giving the option.

I know dell does not want to be overwhelmed with customer support from people who purchase these at a lower cost than windows machines, unknowingly, and find they will not play many windows games.......etc....

If Canonical strikes the right deal with Dell (for support) this would be a major break for Ubuntu, and will allow 100% compatibility with all of the functions of these computers.

While I agree this is a good idea and really good for linux not being the first isn't a really big problem. On the other hand the we don't have to deal with first line of customers who buy into this and start writing everywhere how and why is that button missing what was there in windows and make a bunch of goodbye ubuntu thread.

I am very curious about the pricing, I hope it won't end up like the media playerless XP in EU.

I do not think it will stop at dell and by the time it becames the norm the momentum behind ubuntu will prevail for home users not so sure about companies as never had the luck to try ubuntu support.
