I am just starting to learn C++. I need help installing an intel compiler. I have already downloaded it and extracted it to my desktop, but I can't figure it out... Can somebody please help me?

what type of file is it?
why just not use the gcc?

what is gcc? I've seen it before but I have no idea what it is... I'm really new to this stuff, sorry...

gcc stands for GNU Compiler Collection , for more infos..

its free and open source!

ps. open synaptic (system >> administration >>synaptic package managment) and have a look at packages for code development.. i think they may interest you..

I cant figure out how to install ANY of this stuff, I guess im just gonna have to give up...
