so, last night, i put a wolvix live cd in my old desktop and booted it up. on the first try, i tried to load it to ram, but that notion was rejected (not enough memory). i tried again, the normal way, and things were going fine, until...my poor, old desktop just shut off. and now, i can't even get the power button to respond at all. any thoughts?

Try unplugging for 20 seconds or so, then plugging back in and trying the power button again. If that doesn't get it I'd suspect a failed power supply. Can't imagine software causing anything like you describe.

Try the above & if still no luck test your power supply. If the PSU is gone it would be coincidence and not attributed to the livecd.

I almost lost my computer yesterday. I changed the cpu frequency (to max) in the bios. Turn out to be a heat problem. haha
