I voted Ubuntu. PCLinuxOS is in the lead currently.

Here are some excerpts from an Ubuntu review:


As I mentioned in my old review of Ubuntu 6.10 the install went flawlessly along to the end. It found all my hardware and everything was fine. After the first boot I downloaded all updates and the machine in its GNOME desktop just moved along so smoothly. I was able to increase the font size throughout the whole system with no decrease in system responsiveness.. I was once again happy...

Lets talk about GNOME. I am NEVER going back to KDE. I have just fallen in love ( yes in love ) with this desktop and its clear smooth userability. It is fast and smooth and once again I am happy. It took a bit of retraining to get used to GNOME but once I mentally trained myself to go to the top of the screen and not the bottom like KDE I was using this desktop to the fulliest.

In conclusion, I have been using Ubuntu 6.10 now for almost 4 months. It has not failed on me yet and I would recommend it to anyone. They have a great user community which are more than happy to help anyone.

Oh! I'm sorry! I guess the link does not go back to the thread that I was reading.

There's this thread in the PCLinuxOS forum which has the title "Get out and vote." I guess I can't link it because it won't come back to the page. The bottom line is that, that thread has many replies and I guess many PCLinuxOS users voted there because of that thread.

PCLinuxOS is a fine distro. I couldn't get it to work with my modem, or I might be dual booting it with Ubuntu.

Indeed, it's much more polished than Ubuntu imo, i'm very impressed.
