Does anyone know of a database of free (and royalty-free) multimedia sounds I can use for commercial use if I was to make videos for people for extra income? Also, are there restrictions such as I cannot use certain programs (such as Roxio) to make a profit?

Ex: Say someone gives me a bunch of photos and wants me to make them a good slideshow with audio and I charge them a certain fee for it.

I was thinking I could use free sound effects and stuff along with GNU software to create multimedia projects for people and make a little money on the side.

Please don't post the same thread in more than one forum. At least give time to answer your first thread.

Do a search for Royalty-free or public domain music and sounds. You may find something there.

Google search gave me: http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/
for royalty-free music, and they have a subsection of sound effects too: http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/pir/PIRsfx.shtml

That was the first 2 hits of my Google search under royalty free sounds

Happy hunting.

OWL Music search is great; you can check it out at the Creative Commons website:

http://search.creativecommons.org/

And click the OWL tab.

(Make sure you check the "Search for works I can use for commercial purposes." box)
