No sound

Ok, I have been very fond of using linux and ive been wanting to install it on my new laptop, Toshiba L35-S2194, well the first time I installed Ubuntu on it there was no sound on it and no Wireless, so I decided to say screw it, and I put windows it. Well I am interested on atleast Dual booting my laptop. So, I need some help with this, I even tried many different Live distro's (mandriva, Suse, Knoppix) and they all have the same results with no sound.

Just wondering do you get wireless with the new Ubuntu?

Make sure that it doesn't do a funky "settings" thing with your sound. When your in the Ubuntu Live cd or if you have installed it, try right clicking on the sound icon (on your panel. If it's not there just add it by right clicking on the panel and selected "add to panel" then the volume control) and selecting "Open Volume Control" make sure that it is not on mute and it is not just turned all the way down.
Sorry if that last bit seemed a little bit like "well duh..." but sometimes things like that have tripped me up for a day or so.
I found this neat post about finding sound cards and installing ALSA drivers for it. That should work. I think just finding out what kind of sound card you have would be the first step but the link on their post seemed very good to look up the sound driver you need once you know what you need.

Ya I have checked to see if it was mute, I get this issue no matter what distro I use on this laptop. Do you have the link that you were speaking about?

I figured out my wireless issue, I was just stupid, I used a network finder tool to get that to work.
