Hi
We are currently on SME which seems to be performing just fine on my file server.
I would like a box with Linux Server that can be hidden away down the passage, just quietly humming away, doing its job, without constant attention.
Mainly to be used for web and database hosting and FTP, up and down.
How will Ubuntu perform?

Cheers

It'll work just fine -- we have packages like apache2, php4, et al, in our supported seed. To do an X-less install, type 'linux install' at the prompt when you put the install CD in.

I thought you needed to do custom @ the cd boot prompt.

prefably i'll used debian installed from d-i as i don't like d-i... on a server sudo is not a good idea
