Hi guys

Anybody know of any fast local repositories? The IS one, za.archive.ubuntu.com (that resolves to storeroom.is.co.za), is waay too slow for large upgrades.

Cheers,
m.e(b) :)

to be honest, whenever za repos are giving me hassles, i just drop the "za." prefex, and use the main mirrors. also the us and uk mirrors usually give decent speeds.

The za repos work fine for me. Are you sure it's not a DNS issue? Telkom's DNS servers are notoriously slow...

I just look at the saix networks international peering points and then test the speed of the mirrors in that country and then decide which ones to use.

well all my repose have za in front of them & i hope i can still get upgrades & so on because in less than 12 hours i will be hard capped for the rest of the month & will have to rely on my 30G local only openweb account!!!

why not just choose the "best server" option and it'll find the best one...?

In the synaptic package manager I chose "best server for me" in the source chooser thingy, and it made it Botswana??? Is this a Telkom thing?
Reason?
