Does anyone know if there will be an Ubuntu-like OS for the Wii? I know they're making one for the PS3, so I wondered if maybe they were doing it with the Wii as well.

i VERY highly doubt it since the Wii doesn't have a very powerful CPU, it doesn't have much RAM (i KNOW it doesn't have more than 128MB) and it has no hard drive...so...yeah, VERY HIGHLY UNLIKELY

the Only way you MIGHT get ANY os on there is by using an uber-small distro like Damn Small Linux, but yet again, i doubt it

The Wii has 88MiB of main RAM with a 729MHz PPC processor.

Its certainly possible to run some kind of Linux on the Wii, although the lack of a HD is a bit of a handicap. One of the best things about Linux is its versatility. Someone could be working on it right now.

linux will definately be able to run on the wii, hell, it ran on the gamecube (/me loves his gamecube (plus his xenogc modchip!)

GNOME desktop environment, however will not run, there are others gui that is less memory intensive, they will have to use those.
