Hi,

I work in publishing, and all the even semi-good catalog publishing solutions are proprietary and very expensive. We've toyed as a company with going the InCopy/InDesign route, but could the same (or better) be done by gluing together open source products like OpenOffice, Scribus, a CMS application, etc.?

Any suggestions? Has anyone solved this problem?

you might want to talk to the scribus community directly. It's been a long time since I've had to do any desktop publishing..
