I'm glad we have jids on the forum contact info but are there any jabber chat rooms for anything Ubuntu?

We use irc for "chat rooms" IRC

Thanks for the answer PriceChild. I've seen your name in IRC. Does anyone know if jabber may be used at all for Ubuntu channels if it gets more popular? I do understand that IRC is THE way to communicate since it's been around so long.

Some time ago, there was a specification about how we can integrate Jabber into the Ubuntu community:

There were a couple of drafters working on this. However, the spec was never reviewed. So nothing really happened about it. Well, maybe now that Jabber is implemented into the forum, it will get more attention ;)
