The NetBSD and OpenBSD projects in particular. I admire those people because despite criticism they stick by their goals and now they are some of the finest examples of their goals (Security and portability). Some of the ways NetBSD achieves easy portability is very interesting. Like having all/almost of the code platform independent, so any change in the code benefits NetBSD as a whole rather than a specific platform.

I've been doing a little reading about the various BSD projects, really amazing.

I like OpenBSD for their no compromise attitude towards security.

Wireless should not be that hard to get working in bsd. Their drivers are supposedly better than the linux ones.
