http://diy.devubuntu.com/dump/g2341.png

You can find the detailed price list here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PriceListJenda

The proceeds are used as with my other projects: for marketing Ubuntu and donated to various other Ubuntu projects.

Hello, great stickers, I have sent you an email order :)

Ubuntu - that's Linux, right? Or is it even GNU/Linux?

Ben Sprinkle

Jenda, can I pay you through paypal? I have like 2 and a half bucks ($) that I can use. ;)

Jenda
January 23rd, 2007, 04:13 PM
Ubuntu is Ubuntu.... and yes, I think it's a GNU/Linux based operating system, but who cares ;)

Ben, of course. that's the preferred method of payment. Although $2.5 only fits 5 stickers ;)

Great job! I have a laptop lying around, but I guess my dad won't agree with ordering these :(.

EdThaSlayer, well... you can also try and win them in the UbuntuTrivia quiz :)

How many posters can 2 and a half bucks buy me. :)

Jenda
January 23rd, 2007, 10:33 PM
Ben, it can buy you 3 posters... almost (I can close an eye ;))... but you'd have to pick them up in person, because the shipping is very expensive for the rolls :/ (much cheaper for the stickers)

Like the stickers :) quality.

Those look cool. I might get some eventually.

They should include those when they send out Ubuntu cd's in shipit.

Jenda
January 24th, 2007, 12:42 AM
BWF89, Who'd pay for that ;)
Although, I think badges like this would come to more use.

As for quality, these should be prime - better than what I had so far. They're laminated. The laptop will rub off earlier than the sticker ;)

BTW, I goofed up in that first image - I have waaay too many sticker files. The gradients on all stickers are the same. The horizontal looks a lot better than the diagonal on paper. The actual source files are all in diy.devubuntu.com/repo - with ubuntu being:

Well damn, those posters really looked nice and I am really busy to come pick them up. That sucks. :(

My mistake, coastdweller, sorry - the real file is at http://diy.devubuntu.com/repo/spreadubuntu/DIY%20Material/Batch%201,%20Stickers/ubuntu.png

Jenda, do you have a website to sell all your Ubuntu stuff?

Jenda
January 24th, 2007, 11:15 PM
Well, it's in the works, and it's not just for me to sell my stuff, it's meant to be a centralised hub for all Ubuntu marketing material: diy.devubuntu.com
Feel free to comment, but keep in mind it's a working version.

In fact, I started doing these stuffs in order to have some content for the site - not the other way around :)

Jenda

Just in case anyone's still interested in these, I finally sketched a detailed list of prices for both these and the posters, including info on how the funds will be and have been used here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/DIYWebsite/Get/PriceListJenda

Are these the road side posters? You should get some pictures on the wiki to go with the prices :)

-edit-

by the way, I have been talking to anyone that will listen about the black tee-shirts for Ubuntu. You may want to do another poll to see if there are enough people to get that going. Word on the street is looking good. I will pre-order if I need to. (At this point I am begging for black Ubuntu shirts. Does that make me a geek? :D)

Jenda

Roadside posters? I have no idea what that is :)
As far as pictures are concerned, I'm dependent on those who have ordered them, obviously :)
If you have got posters, and took pictures - please share!

As far as t-shirts are concerned, I'll look into it :) I'll start another poll, as soon as I have time. In fact - if you want, you can start the poll yourself :)

I'd pitch in for a couple good quality Ts as well. My preference would be the earth tone colors or white though. My wife has one of those nifty embroidery machines so I may just create the imagery and have her make some for me.

I still need to order a few of those case badges though. I'll do that this weekend.

Jenda
March 22nd, 2007, 09:14 AM
Hmm... Nik Butler of the UK team and Julius Bloch of the German team both ship nice shirts... but not earth tones, I think.

You say you could have some made...? :)

Spr0k3t
March 22nd, 2007, 09:46 AM
I might... I would need to speak with the wife unit to make sure she would be willing. It would greatly depend on what size, number of colors, and locations. The key would be buying the shirts in bulk and performing the stitching needed. I'll talk with her to see what she has to say about it. Question though, how many shirts would we be talking about?

Oh yeah, I saw the shirts Julius has... they would be similar to that.

Jenda
March 22nd, 2007, 10:31 AM
I dunno - I think getting rid of about 50 shirts wouldn't be too difficult. You could even make a decent profit on it...
The colors are 3.

The poster with the sign on the side of the road, that is the only one I have seen. Sorry, I guess road sign (what i ment to say) is my name for it :)

I am not sure what it takes to make and sell Ubuntu gear. Do I need permission from Canonical? or is it okay as long as I do not mess with logo? It making the logo white messing with the logo too much? Anyhow, I will see if I can get a poll together. I just didn't want to step on your toes too much :)

http://www.ubuntu.com/aboutus/trademarkpolicy

you have to contact Canonical at trademarks@ubuntu.com and ask for permission to use it. Send them a link or provide a picture of how you'll be using their logo and they'll approve it or deny it. They usually approve it, as long as you don't really mess with the logo.

Jenda
March 22nd, 2007, 03:15 PM
lyceum - Nothing will make me happier than if you pick this up - it's my duty, my purpose to make the community do stuff like this organically and distributedly :)

You technically do not need permission from Canonical if the logo is unchanged, but you can always ask if you're not sure if they don't mind. The trademark policy page (http://www.ubuntu.com/aboutus/trademarkpolicy) says you can use monochrome logos when needed. These shirts (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=303557) have already been approved, i think.

Jenda
March 22nd, 2007, 03:18 PM
Well, they seem to have changed that bit - you do need permission, but you will most probably get it. If you don't feel like writing them, I'll happily write for you - I've sent at least 10 requests to that address by now ;)

Cool, I will take charge of this then. I will add it to my plate of things to do in the Ubuntu world. Right now I am working on a website designed with one goal in mind, to market FOSS through Ubuntu. I think I will add it to that project and make a shop to raise money for the site. Let me know if you have any objections, and thanks!

Jenda
March 22nd, 2007, 07:59 PM
No objections, just a few points you might want to know... ;)

I'm working on this project: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/DIYWebsite
Working copy: http://diy.devubuntu.com

It's the whole reason why I did this swag to begin with. So - in other words, the shop should be set up for anyone who wants to make swag for the community to buy, including you, if you wish to participate on the project in this way :)
We're hoping the site will be ready for release alongside Feisty.

Very cool. I will be looking into the devubuntu more in April then. Sounds like a great idea.

I'm sorry, I was away vacationing. I'll get to it ASAP. You should have them within 2 weeks at most.

May 16th, 2007, 01:59 AM
They cost $0.3 or €0.2, and if you order more than 10, shipping is free (otherwise it's $1, but please don't make me pack individual stickers :) get more and share with your friends).

Out of curiosity, are these prices still accurate or the ones on the price list wiki page? Either way I'll be emailing shortly, just want to make sure I send enough funds. :)

Jenda
May 16th, 2007, 09:08 AM
That depends :)

I 'artificially' bumped up the prices on the lower amounts, in order to motivate you to buy larger packs, because I spend way too much time packing 10-packs (Consider the fact that i've already sent out 8000 stickers, and intend to send 6000 more in the coming weeks - that's a total of over 1000 ten-packs... I have a life to lead ;))
I also lowered the prices on the bigger packs, so I am approaching a negative margin from 500 up.

With this in mind, consider the options :) I will send 10 stickers even if you send just $3.
