Personally, I pronounce it the second way... Or, to really confuse all my friends that know nothing of computers, I call them "dot ee ex ee".

ee ex ee

I'm different I dont say dot!:rolleyes:

I say it that way too.

E-Ex-E = .exe
Giff (Not jiff, Like the peanut butter) = .gif
Bitmap =.bmp
Scuzzy = scsi

For longer abbreviations I just letter it out;
A S C I I for example. I actually say that..Not Asskey.

Furthermore:

Jay-Peg = .jpg/jpeg
Emm-Peg or Em Pee Gee = .mpeg .mpg
Oh gee gee = Ogg

It's funny, Sometimes I say it like it sounds, I don't know. I just say what I thought the first time I read the extension or term...Or what I picked up from when another geek said it aloud before I thought about it.

exe is short for executable hence it is pronounced
ex-eh-KYOOT-uh-bul as you put it.

"exeKYOOTable"? What the hell?

It's just "execute" with "able" stuck on the end. "KYOOT" would add an entire extra cyllable to the word. Or do you mean "cute" rather than "kyoot"?
