As a new user to Linux I have heard that Linux was a much more secure OS But I didn't know why that way. The link at the top of this post will explain why that is.

Aye, but it's important to take into account the popularity risks as well. If Linux swelled to the same level of mass deployment as Windows who knows how badly Linux would be affected by virus threats. Granted Unix is more secure but Virus writers are arseholes and don't care how ethical something is as long as they feel the l337 aspect of it.

Just my 2 Quid on the matter.

It really doesn't matter how popular Linux becomes.

read, save, become root, give executable permissions, run.
You'd have to do all that for a Linux virus to do any real damage. In Windows click then boom
