The Ubuntu Utah meetings are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month from 6:00pm MST to 8:00pm MST at 240 E. Morris Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84115.

Is there anyone in the southern Utah area? I live in St. George and would love to be able to talk to someone locally here... It is always nice to be able to have someone near by when you need something. I am happy to help others with my limited Linux knowledge and always happy to learn. Unfortunately as a married full time student with 2 kids I have $0 for travel so I was hoping to find someone here in St. George... I attend DSC so it would be easy to meet up once in a while and talk... Also I use a laptop so my problems travel with me easily...

Hmmm. I am unaware of anybody from the southern end of the state. I know there is the southern Utah LUG down there. Not sure how many of them are using or interested in Ubuntu. Maybe hit the mailing lists, and find out.

BTW- come to #ubuntu-utah, and hang out with us there in our IRC channel. We can discuss it, and see what options there are to get the southern end of the state involved.

I should have come here earlier greywolf79. I'm a IT/Developer professional here in Sunny St. George. I have been a faithful ubuntu user for the past 6-8 months (I don't remember....before that I was a Debian freak and confident Linux would never produce a decent desktop solution...Ubuntu proved me wrong...I can still be a Debian freak too.) I boot Ubuntu at both work and home and absolutely love it.

I don't know of any clubs here (I've never attended any meetings anyway). I know of the Southern Utah Unix Users Group for http://www.su3g.org/ (which seems somewhat active.) Ubuntu shoudl fit in there somewhere. If you wanna start a Ubuntu club or Chapter, let me know.

I am also in the southern area. I am involved pretty heavily in the college and work at a software company. (the CIT department computers all have Ubuntu on them) I will be on IRC when I can.

We usually stand around and BS in the parking lot before. Hope to see you there, as for anything more formal. I really don't think there is anything more needed other than attendence (I think for a contributing member there is quite a bit more).

Hey. Just found out about the local group. Is the meeting this month on the 8th? Won't be able to attend many after that due to work, but would like to at least check one out. Also, what server is the IRC channel on?

Detox06 - The September meet will be the Utah Open Source Conference (http://www.utosc.org), we'll then have a meet-n-greet BBQ and the 22nd. In October we'll have a presentation on ssh on the 6th and an Ubuntu 7.10 release party on the 20th.

I live in St. George as well. Just started Ubuntu Studio on my new multimedia machine and having fun putting it all together.

The Souther Utah Unix Users Group is local and will be having a meeting September 27th, 2007 at 7:00 PM in The Dixie College Udvar-Hazy School of Business room 149. I am in the process of updating the website: su3g.org (http://www.su3g.org) and the forum has a post (http://www.su3g.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=145) about it.

I will monitor this thread if you have more questions.

I would like to know when the next meeting is and what the meetings are about. I never been to anything like these so I would love to experence it for the first time. I am rather new with ubuntu and linux so i think coming to one will be great.

the next meeting is still pending a location but it will be held on Oct 20th, 6:00pm - 8:30pm (ish) for the Ubuntu 7.10 "gutsy gibbon" release party.

I too live in Southern Utah. Hurricane to be specific. Perhaps all the S. Utah Ubuntu users should add each other to their friends lists on the forums. That or maybe the Utah Team forum should have a board for Southern Utah?

There are so few of us down here, but it might be worth it. You can find me in IRC at irc.freenode.net in #ubuntu-us-ut #utos or #su3g (which is specifically for the Southern Utah group). I haven't had time to plan another specific meeting yet but I hope to have one before the end of the semester.

Freshly migrating to Ubuntu Studio 8.04 from the Company that bill left to the suited monkeys farm... Still have yet to install Studio as it has not yet come in the mail, but will by the time te next meeting rolls around.

So, Ok you meet at the UofU Every Second Saturday. I pretty sure I'm gonna have a Hardware Compatibility issue with my Wireless-G card Not that I really care, it a lame card anyways. I've been trying to find a list by component type Compatibility site. i found one but Firefox decided to take my bookmarks and dump em for some reason.

I know this is an old thread but I am looking for a Linux (Ubuntu) or any flavor user group in the Southern Utah area. This is my 3rd go round running a dual boot box but thing have changed a lot since the previous times I ran Linux and was hoping to meet up with others running Linux.
