The day has come.. I'm sitting on my Dell laptop with everything working ( but not the wireless ). But now, I'm bored to death !
Here is the question: Is there any open source programs that you need to work your *** off to get compiled ?(it needs to be a program with a GUI).
Or is there something else I should play with on my system ? :p (not the wireless, have tryed many times before but cant get it to work, so I'm gonna wait until fiesty but need something else to do in the mean time )

EDIT: This is like when you get everythings working you don't have "killer-app".. is like having a working car without gas/fuel !

--thnx :)

Thank you, but I don't like games with that kind of graphics.. I'm looking for a nice productive program I could use to be creative :) (Gimp is to sticky )

Python is a very good time killer. HTML is also good and easy. What about Beryl? Takes a little effort to install, but once it's done, you'll find yourself rotating the cube for no reason. It's beautiful.

Edit - nice tutorial, ssam!

Hehe, thank you but.. my laptop don't have the hardware to run that kind of eyecandy =/ but my main computer can do that, but there again I have windows installed on it so I can use Photoshop 100% (with pen pressure) :)

Figuring out what the dependancies are for the lotest release of Banshee takes... a while to say the least!

1. How about creating a new CD jacket for Edgy/Feisty - someone should, really.

2. Write a How-To or a tutorial

3. Put a cheese slice in your CD drive and try to boot from it. Post your results here. Weeks of fun, that one.

mtpaint looks pretty cool but I can't get it to compile. There are instructions specifically for ubuntu but it didn't work for me.
http://mtpaint.sourceforge.net/

If you could make a debian package that would be really cool - does anyone else think mtpaint hits the spot for being a light-weight image editor? Gnupaint seems unable to add text and is buggy in other respects.

Ubuntu needs mtpaint.

Why don't you go to YouTube?
They have some funny clips there.

I'm gonna try to compile it and make a .deb package :)

I tryed to compile it, but I got an error message.. so,, I'm to lazy right now to fix it :P I know what I am gonna do.. I'm gonna learn myself the GTK+ lib, and make some widgets that will make everything a little bit smaller, even in gimp ( so everything can fit on your screen by default) just wait 5-6 month or so :P

learn to do some 3D rendering with Blender could be useful in future programming projects.

That's a good idea, but I already know alot about rendering, I think. I'm not so into 3D stuff, but I love digital painting ( in 2D/3D).
I do alot of work i photoshop, just to bad that gimp don't please me enough, but I'm sure that I'll use gimp one day :)

I hate the normal GIMP interface. Lots of people claim it's better, but it just confuses me. Have you tried GIMPShop? It puts all of the gimp windows into one, photoshop like interface. It makes it a much more enjoyable experience imo.

Well if you have time convert the cinepaint interface to the gimpshop one.
