I doubt it tbh. I'm fairly sure Mark uses Ubuntu. Otherwise, whats the point in supporting a project that you yourself have no confidence in? :-k

Has anyone asked him?

Riiiight. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear%2C_uncertainty_and_doubt)

Small edit:

I do use Ubuntu on my laptop, and travel a lot. My laptop is both my primary working environment and my primary development environment. I also have a desktop machine, which runs Kubuntu, and which I use for development at home over the weekends.

Yeah, I thought it was your typical FUD about KDE. I acknowledged my mistake right beneath the quoted part, didn't I ? Just thought I should leave the rest for historical correctness. ;)

Linus does. He also speaks fondly of Visual Basic. The thing to understand about Linus is that he does such low level development that it really doesn't matter which OS he uses.

Exactly. (http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/soa/Torvalds_switches_to_Apple/0,139023165,139183867,00.htm)

Using Mac OS X when you support Linux doesn't mean you don't have any faith in Linux. Perhaps he's using OS X to see how it's structured, or to see the differences between various Unix-like OS.

Hmm that's not quite right. He has an apple G5 (donated to him) and runs Linux on it.

And yes, I did google to double check, seems there was a thread about it here
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=334170

EDIT: And as my post hits the last page in the thread, yes I see other people pointed it out... :)

Wow! I didn't think you read these forums Mark :D . I must admit though that I expected a much flashier desktop, maybe Beryl or something wild :D . No offense meant. Thanks for the great OS!

I think he wants to stay as close to the thing that users who do a clean install of ubuntu will experience.

It does seem like a very low resolution screen though.... ;-)

Thanks for the post!

i have often imagined/wished ubuntu development meetings to involve the term 'hack t3h gibson' screamed around every few mins, for comedic effect.

I was expecting that, was just a matter of time.

The day (k)ubuntu comes out with default bling it will be the first thing i disable/uninstall thats if i do use it.

Hello Mark

I'm so happy you showed me your desktop!

Thank you for showing me it.

It looks really good.

By the way,I'm a 15 year old Linux user!

I like Ubuntu so much and I use it all the time!

Its my favourite Operating System(I'm dualbooting Edgy Eft and Windows XP Professional).

Thank you for making such a great Operating System!

I'd like to show you my desktop.

Its made to look like Mac OS X brushed metal.

I hope you like it.

Thank you Mark
Ahmed
