I am waiting for my desktop to arrive and when it does I will make it 100% Ubuntu. I am thinking of replacing Ubuntu on my laptop with Mepis because 3D acceleration works out of the box and I have yet been able to get it to work on Edgy. Im still a noob and want to know if the ndiswrapper install works the exact same way or do I do something different. May even try a triple boot.

I think it works probably exactly the same way--Mepis does now, after all, use Ubuntu's repositories.

I tried out the current beta yesterday, and found that ndiswrapper was already installed.
In fact, my Broadcom 4306 wireless was recognized out of the box, and worked perfectly. I've never had that happen with any distro previously.

Where did you download the beta? I checked here (http://www.mepis.org/node/1462) and did not see one labeled beta. If it is not labeled beta what ver. is it? I have never had my card work out of the box either. Would be nice and i need to give KDE another shot. Thanks!
SORRY overlooked the mirror it was on.

Did it work on the live cd or after install? Not working on the cd but glxgears was 1400-1500 when starting then petered down to about 500-600:confused: . I could play tuxracer though8) . I really like the way KDE looks now. I still think Gnome is a little easier to use but I guess thats what I have gotten used to. By the way was your Kweather stuck on Morgantown? I got mine right after changing and deleting it like 50 times.

I'm not sure, trav5, whether it was working on the live cd. At some point I noticed that my wireless light went on, which really surprised me.
I think they do a better job with fonts than Ubuntu, so Mepis looks good out of the box.
The weather thing I had to adjust, but I just needed to change it once, to San Francisco, and then it seemed to be ok.
I'm glad you're enjoying it. :D
