Ive read threads on this forums saying that people would love to have some sort of program that would allow them to talk with other google talk users (you can use chat since google talk uses jabber but not the actual voice calling functions)

but then i just stumbled upon this page:

http://code.google.com/apis/talk/index.html

am i misreading it, or is it basically giving you the source code for google's "talk" feature? If so, are programs like GAIM planning on supporting it?

GAIM has supported it for a long time, and an even better program for Google talk is Gossip (easier to configure and a simpler interface).

Doesn't Google do all of their software development on Linux? Shouldn't their chat stuff work on Linux?

it will do voice chat (no file sending)
