Here is an interesting thread idea. Please list what programs you wish you could find Ubuntu debs for but can't. If someone else sees a deb that they know where it is, please chime in.

Mine:

1. sonance

http://sonance.aaronbock.net/

(good howto recently made though)

2. Newest Zsnes

3. Current Hostap driver modules

1. Skippy (luckily, I found Kompose and have stuck with it).
http://thegraveyard.org/skippy.php

2. A nice Superkaramba themes/files collection just like gdesklets-data.
http://netdragon.sourceforge.net/

3. ABC [Yet Another Bittorrent Client] (as well as the 4.0.1 Bittorrent Official update)
http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/

If it wasn't for jdong, Bittornado (the app that got me into to Ubuntu in the first place) wouldn't work. The universe one is broken.

Amazingly, the bittorrent official (http://www.bittorrent.com/) Debian package doesn't work for me here.. :-\

1. Sonance

I want it so badly, it's a major pain in the ass to install. I emailed the guy and asked him to make a .deb hopefully he will.

That's it, all i need is that. ;p

Blackdown java is subject to the same licencing issues as Sun's java.

You are not allowed to distribute any other type of java environment if you distribute theirs. This is why the proprietary linux distributions (Xandros, linspire, Mephis can ship with the official java since they chose not to ship the free implementations (and thus they do not contribute to the development of those free implementations - you are getting my opinion at no extra cost, here)

AllofMP3 explorer

Does one exist?

I've found this page today http://r00tshell.com/downloads but haven't tried either out. I assume I'd want the python one.

Wow, I was looking for a place to ask for this. I'd like to see Teamspeak added to the universe. Its a great voice chat program and it works well with gaming. Check it out. http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php

Just a small thing: gnochm. I know there is xchm, but I find it doesn't always display the files correctly. When I ran kde on debian sarge I used kchm. Actually, I just checked and kchm isn't in there either

so: gnochm and kchm for kubuntu

Oh, my utmost apologies, I'm still ironing out my terminology. :-k

EDIT: But it just struck me, I think everybody likes a cd archiver, one should be included somewhere in here too, like Advanced Disk Catalog or Whereisit?

I know of movie cataloguers (gcfilm) and generalized ones, not sure I know anything like ADCataloguer (I went to the website and it does look deep). You can go to gnomefiles.org and try to catch something you like yourself.

P.S. 1 - I hope Openoffice 2.0's Database application is as good or at least half as good and easier than MS Access. That would rock for cataloguing anything.

P.S. 2 - I wish there was something 1/4 as good as Microsoft Visio (2003) for Linux. I just spent about 4 days using Windows just because I had some diagrams to create.

P.S. 3 - I'm my time away from Linux, I managed to get away from my computer and watch Lemony Snickets "ASOUE" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0339291/) . It rocks. So.
