View Full Version : Petunial - a pythonic hosting panel

January 4th, 2007, 11:18 PM

I was just looking for a control panel for my new webserver and found something new.

Besides SysCP, which is written in PHP and which I have actually choosen, I found Petunial.

They are developing a hosting panel from scratch, written in pure Python.

I will see how it works and start to contribute, as I am not 100% happy with the actual solutions and I feel Python is a good language for a control panel.

If you are interested check their site out:

And if you also want to get involved in development have a look at their Trac:

They also have an IRC-Channel:
#petunial on irc.freenode.net

Of course it's all Open-Source under a BSD Licence.

If your just a user I would advice you to check out their site again at the end of the year and download the best panel available :D

This may be a good opportunity for all Python developers to extend their skills. Just take you favourite server application and write a plug-in for Petunial for that.

I will join them for sure, and maybe we will see us on IRC later.

i also considered to use python as a language in ehcp (http://www.ehcp.net).. i started a small python daemon.
but most of people wanted to stay in php.

but since the idea simple and code is simple, i think i can switch to python relatively easy...
