Should I upgrade to OpenOffice 2.1?

I'm running 2.0.4 and wondering what's new and/or has been fixed in 2.1.

Thanks, although I've been running 2.1 for a while now. It's pretty much the same, although it claims to now offer automatic updates. (Although mine lacks that option.)

OO.o 2.1 seems to run a little faster. The instructions linked on the previous posts work just fine... it's just that it takes about half an hour to do the update.

I have no problems at all with 2.1, or at least none that I know of. :wink:

2.1 has a Quicklauncher - if you use that, OpenOffice will no longer take approximately forever to start. It starts quite quickly with it, in fact.

i found 2.1 to be less bad than 2.0x. almost good in fact. oh, and don't blame me, i just use it everyday for work... but some quite annoying bugs sometimes drive me mad, as well as the lack of some functionalities (dynamic linking especially...).

i would advise to upgrade to 2.1.

Is there likely to be an "official" update from 2.0.4 to 2.1 from Ubuntu? (I'm running Edgy btw).

Re the QuickLauncher, I thought it was only for Windows; how do I make the QuickLauncher work in Ubuntu?

I have 2.1 installed on my Windows partition. It works great and seems to handle importing MS Office documents with weird formatting (like tables and objects) a little better. Equation objects seem generally less garbled on 2.1.
