Guess I'm a little bored tonight. So I got to thinking - anyone know of any easter eggs (little funny or silly or hidden bonuses) in ubuntu?

kolinab,

This probably should have been posted in the Cafe (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=11) as it's not a support request.

And I don't know of any, don't really see the point of an Easter egg in an OS.

aptitude have one. IF you type sudo aptitude moo it will tell you that there's nothing hidden in the app, but if you put the -v option and begin adding more "v"s to that option aptitude will display several messages and eventually it will display an ASCII pic.

You're right, probably ought to be in the cafe. Sorry for that. Just got to thinking and carelessly posted in the forum I was currently reading.

I don't really see the point of an easter egg in an OS either, which is kind of the point! :)

If you first run "apt-get moo" and then "aptitude moo" the joke is more fun.

Well I use the dutch version of ubuntu and while I still see some critical things not or poorly translated (some words in update-notifier for example) it seems they did decide to translate easter eggs in apt-get
