Am I the only one that has gotten enough of these "my hardware is not supported i'm leaving" threads? The makers of ubuntu have made an effort to detect as many devices as possible, like many other Linux distribution developers, because the hardware manufacturers usually make drivers only runnable on windows.

And then these beginners show up and expect every single device to be detected and made serviceable, and when it's unsupported they act like it's the OS developers fault.

Hardware support isn't always great in Windows either tbh, it tooks me ages to get my sound card working and it is slow as hell without NVIDIA display drivers.

Suuure, it's easy to blame hardware manufacturers, isn't it?

It's not their fault, but the cause of the problem is the fact that many of them don't make cross-platform drivers.

except there are instances when backward compatibility or other 'free hits' is ignored
