I'd just like to ask as I am making a new pic for the Gallery, are we Ubuntu Geeks or Ubuntu Nerds?

I'd say both. Computer Geeks, Linux Nerds, Ubuntu geek & nerd.

Geekiness can be aspired to, nerdiness not.

Both. I'm an Ubuntu Geek (as well as several other flavors of geekdom) and an all-round nerd.

You aren't a geek until someone that YOU consider to be a geek calls you one.

Says the net equivalent of the Spanish Royal Academy?

(Seriously, I was unaware of the quirky use of the word. However, since I find it descriptive enough for most mortals, I'll continue using it.)

Geeks are "in" and can be making money.
Nerds are made fun of and usually do not have dates. 8-[

At least that seemed to be the division while I was in school.

Ubuntu is for everyone, not only for just Geeks and Nerds.

I looked at Wikipedia for the difference of Nerds vs Geeks, and according this I'm mostly a Geek

The lines between geek and nerd are often thin and ill-defined, however a general consensus is that a "geek" is a person who obsesses in one area or another, whereas a "nerd" is a highly intelligent person who is very scholarly and does well in many domains such as math, science, computing, etc

I agree with you.

Yep. "Geek" is a title that has to be bestowed upon you. You can't just take it.

I don't like being called a nerd... to me it implies I don't do anything else but computing... which is extremely untrue ;)

However I would say we have both here ;)

Following this logic, I must be a nerd.

Someone once called me an Ubuntu Guru...what does that put me in?

I think I am a geek though.

Umm... and how is that enforceable? And what prevents me and my friend from mutually calling each other geeks? Is there a Central Organism of Geekdom that will declare a Holy War on me if I misuse the word? What if I call myself a 'guic' (which in spanish is pronounced just like geek)?

I mean... that idea is terribly... GEEKY
