View Full Version : Firehol?

Is the Firehol application coming from ubuntu proper or added on with ubuntu-ce?

There hasn't been a release since Jan 30 2005, that means it is going on 2 years since the last update. Which makes me wonder if anyone is auditing this package for vulnerabilities? Should something that keeps updated be used instead?

Thanks,

It is added with the CE edition. I don't know about it's upkeep though.

Shorewall seems to be the only one I have found that gets a steady stream of updates

http://www.shorewall.net/

firewall, gaurddog & firehol go along time without updates.

Also found this in the forums on shorewall

Firehol is a part of Dan's Guardian I believe. At least Dan's Guardian uses it somehow. I also thought it was a part of Smoothwall for some reason, because the Dan't Guardian project forked from the Smoothwall project.

Yes, it is used by dansguardian. I am not sure about how it is updated and what not. It is only added to be used with the filtering.
