For the sake of people not having to hunt around for it, the next meeting is:
April 13, 7:00, Love Cafe on U St.

Mackenzie, JD and myself have planned to hold monthly NU Ubuntu Team meetings...

The first will be in January in Washington DC, at Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe. (http://www.kramers.com/)

The exact time and date has yet to be determined....but keep an eye here for the first meeting.

Maybe we should say DC-Area ones. Other members are definitely welcome to meet up with each other in areas that are more convenient to them. I'm thinking the people in Quinzeh (Quincy, MA ;) ) don't want to drive down to visit us.

Very cool-- looking forward to the meeting indeed. I am interested in getting involved with wireless applications and am continuing to learn Linux. I was using Gentoo but ran into XGL troubles.... the Ubuntu support looks excellent and I'll be sure to keep this meeting in mind.

I must learn how to navigate DC first but Connecticut Ave. shouldnt be too far from where I will be.

take care!

Just go to Dupont Circle and walk around it to the left. Connecticut is just past PNC Bank. Turn that way. Kramer Books has a bookstore on one side of it and a back patio kind of thing on the other. I'm not sure if you'll be coming up to the bookstore entrance or patio entrance because I don't know which side's front and which side's back.

RAV TUX
January 6th, 2007, 09:24 PM
The bookstore portion of Kramers has two entrances that are accesible from Connecticut Ave.

We will meet in the computer section of the bookstore once everybody meets up we will move then to either the cafe or bar section...(for those under 21 we will probably meet in the cafe)...since the bookstore itself is rather tight....

or we could go elsewhere depending on what everybody decides?

A Baltimore meet up would be great....either at Mugs in Little Italy if it is still open and Mugs is still around?

or perhaps the Suburban House...in Pikesville...

I think a future meet up here would be great

I will try to see if MUGS is still in Little Italy...it'd be nice to see you all in here. Another alternative venue would be the Barnes and Noble in Inner Harbor especially once the weather gets warmer. :)

I think that MUGS is just a one of a kind place that usually can only be found in books or movies...

A cool little place that is owned by MUGS (a retired Italian-American Boxer)...he has been there for years....and he usually has a least a couple of dishes cooking on his stove top...the stories of old Baltimore and it's transformation are awesome...I would make a special trip from DC to Baltimore to meet up there...perhaps even get some DC people together and go up there together...

It most likely would have to a Saturday evening or Sunday....

Since I have canceled my trip to NYC in March perhaps March would be a good time to shoot for.

Most awesome meet up, they seem to be getting better each time we meet. JD it was awesome to finally meet you, Leah and I look forward to hanging out again.

Mackenzie as a close friend of both Leah and myself it is always a joy to be in your presence.

Luigi both Leah and I are always enamored with your extreme intellectual conversation, great stories, and your wonderful sense of humor. You are also a true diplomat....and a true friend.

Nick...(Spec on IRC)....one awesome dude from the DC LoCo group, that I hope that we can see again at every meet up. Your one awesome 1337-type person.

Missed meeting the imaginary boyfriend, Timball.

Ok the next meet up is planned at Max's in Silver Spring. day/date/time yet to be determined but it may be on a Sunday.

For anyone who hasn't made it yet to a NU Ubuntu Team UUG, these are simply awesome and fun....it is the actualization of all things Linux. The community is at the heart of Linux, the UUG's are the actualization of this reality.

Good Friends, New Friends, Good New Friends, Ubuntu and all things Linux are wonderful ingredients to our happy group. Please come and join us.

Last month's meeting was great fun, I'm glad I got to meet all of you on the forum side of the world. :) I look forward to meeting you all in the future, and therefore extend invitations.....

At my college we are hosting an installfest (NVCC - Alexandria campus), it'll take place next Saturday (03/10/07) from 2pm-6pm. After that, as a completely separate event (but probably not entirely) we're having a DC LoCo team meetup at 'Taste of India' at around 7pm. Our proposed items for the agenda include our team's support for FOSSED, DC (presentations, promoting ubuntu, etc). If you're interested in attending either of the events, or if you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to send me an e-mail at: dragoncow2@ubuntu.com

To convince you forum lurkers to want to go to 'Taste of India', here's an excerpt from their website:

"""
Taste of India opened at 2621 Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington, DC's Woodley Park neighborhood in 1991. The restaurant specializes in authentic North Indian cuisine, as well South Indian dosas. All of our foods are prepared without MSG and ghee. We offer a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, all of which are also vegan.

Happy Hour is all day long, every day and Taste of India offers among the very best drinks at the lowest prices in the city. So please come enjoy dinner at the finest Indian restaurant East of the Pacific Ocean, right here in Northwest Washington, DC.
