A great site for those who love the bunnies in their life...

Great place to go if you want to adopt a Bunny.

http://www.rabbit.org/

House Rabbit Society Philosophy

1. The House Rabbit Society believes that ALL rabbits are valuable as individuals, regardless of breed purity, temperament, state of health, or relationship to humans. The welfare of all rabbits is our primary consideration.

2. In line with our mission, we are against the exploitation of rabbits.

3. Except for unique situations, in which wild animals are being nursed or rehabilitated, it is in the best interest of wild rabbits that human intervention be held to a minimum.

4. Domestic rabbits are not the product of natural selection, but rather of human interference by means of breeding programs, and the product is a human-dependent animal who needs protection. It is therefore a human responsibility that these animals be cared for in a manner appropriate to their needs.

5. It is in the best interest of domestic rabbits to be neutered/spayed, to live in human housing where supervision and protection are provided, and to be treated for illnesses by veterinarians.

6. Domestic rabbits are companion animals and should be afforded at least the same individual rights, level of care, and opportunity for longevity as commonly afforded to dogs and cats who live as human companions.

7. Rabbits are intelligent, social animals who require mental stimulation, toys, exercise, environmental activity, and social interaction (from, as appropriate, people, other rabbits, or other animals).

Tumbleweed (http://www.rabbitsinthehouse.org/images/Tumbleweed.jpg) - This guy is so cute and friendly. He loves being petted and doted on. Potential adopters need to know that Tumbleweed requires frequent grooming.

(http://www.rabbitsinthehouse.org/images/Seneca.jpg)Seneca (http://www.rabbitsinthehouse.org/images/Seneca.jpg) **PENDING ADOPTION**is an adorable cinnamon colored Holland lop girl. She is a little on the large side for a Holland lop (maybe 4 pounds) making her not show quality so we assume that is why she was not wanted any more. Seneca was brought to the shelter by a local Holland Lop breeder who said someone left her on her doorstep. Now that she has been spayed and placed in HRS foster care, her rabbit show days are over and she learning to enjoy the good life.

Ehhh. The domestic rabbit is greasy and nasty anyway. For some reason, it tastes better when you hunt your own. ;)

Now for an actual on-topic comment (don't get used to it). I used to have a generic black bunny that was given as a gift to a friend who lived in town. He didn't work out too well as a house rabbit, but he did fine out in the country with me in his very own (large) rabbit hutch and run. He was so spoiled that he would refuse to eat until his ears had been scratched to his satisfaction. :D He lived for seven or eight years (I lost track). A lot of his fur had turned gray by the time he died. I regret now that I don't have any pictures of him. :(

(http://www.adoptarabbit.com/foster/Moppy.html)Moppy (http://www.adoptarabbit.com/foster/Moppy.html) was rescued from a field and was labeled "hard to handle". Miss Moppy is a Fuzzy Lop, and due to the absence of grooming, had mats from head to tail. It has taken many months to work on her coat, but now she is mat free. Moppy has very good litter box habits and doesn't chew on furniture or carpet. Slowly Moppy is learning that hands can mean pleasure in the form of head pets and treats. She is cautious about trusting people but she is improving and will make the right person a wonderful pet.

No, but he would butt his head against you until you started to scratch him. He used to terrify the cats too. He would lie just out of reach inside his run and wait for the cats to get right up to the fence. Then he would pounce at them. It would scare the crap out of them every time, but they just couldn't resist nosing up to the fence. He seemed to think it was a great game.

(I also think he had my sense of humor, slightly twisted...)

Oreo [I'm 2 months old and I was bought at a pet store by people that thought a bunny was easy to take care of but bunnies are work too.]
Flopsy [I'm a 3 1/2 month old dwarf mixes. I came here with our brother Peter to find us a new home.]
Collin [I'm a 1 yr 8 month old Dutch boy looking for a home]

Cassidy was the youngest of the 27 rabbits seized in a neglect (http://www.rirabbits.org/easter/Cruelty/cruelty.html#cranston) situation. He was about 8 weeks old when he came to Sweet Binks and was in tough shape. He is now in great shape, neutered and about 4.5 months old. He loves to shake his head in happiness, binky and is silly. He is a little shy but comes around quickly once he gets to know you. He is great with his litterbox and is a Flemish Giant mix. He is about 6.5 lbs. now and will likely get a little bigger. Those ears just don’t know what to do!

Kayla is a petite girl weighing in at 4.5lbs. She is about 5-1/2 years old, but still with lots of life in her. Her litter habits are wonderful, her appetite great and she is a very sweet and friendly girl. She is in a foster home with Cheyenne and gets along very well with her, so she would do well with a companion. She currently has free run of the house 24/7 and her new home must be able to accommodate her freedom. She is used to cats and gets along well with them. I have a house bunny at home, although currently he's been caged and put on the table as we have mice that we need to catch and we're worried about him catching diseaeses.

he's called Bob and he's a silver fox rabbit, medium size for the breed (weighs about a stone) and is very bored at the moment cos he doesn't like being caged...

I'll post some pics when I get home from work :)

I had plenty bunnies as pets when I was small, really liked them. And they usually had little bunnies, hence the term 'breeding like rabbits'.

I also had rabbit stew with red wine sauce once and that was great. Felt a bit weird eating it but it was just to good.

Liz
Please click the picture above to see more images. Liz - is a strikingly beautiful harlequin rabbit - predominantly black, with some tan and a little white on her. She also has a winning personality to match her looks, surprising, considering her humble beginnings. She had been kept in a small backyard hutch, breeding with a male rabbit, and the litters would be released to run in the neighborhood. When the owners moved, they set also Liz and her partner free. The new owners were able to trap Liz, but her partner was never found, nor any of the latest litter. Liz was emaciated, infested with fleas and ticks and so hungry she was willing to eat dog food. After a month in rescue, she has been spayed, has had many gourmet bunny meals and finds the life of an indoor rabbit quite to her liking! She is completely litter trained and very friendly - just as at ease in your lap getting lots of stroking as she is out hopping happily around the room. She will even give you kisses! This is one happy rabbit and we are looking for a special loving home for her.http://www.capefearrabbits.org/adoptables.html

Emma & Duster
Please click the picture above to see more images. Emma & Duster - are a bonded pair of rabbits living in Columbia, SC are looking for a new home. Emma, the cinnamon rex is the lively one of the pair, always looking for places to do bunny binkies - any old throw rug will do! Duster, the more laid-back of the two, is content to watch her wear herself out showing off, then grooms her quietly when she comes to lay beside him. Neither is much for lap-sitting, but they love it if you sit next to them on the floor and stroke them - lots of contented whisker purring from them. They both enjoy their wicker baskets, especially when they come with greens in them, as you can see. Emma and Duster are spayed and neutered, and completely litterbox trained so if you are looking for a couple of house rabbits, please consider Emma and Duster.http://www.capefearrabbits.org/adoptables.html

Roger & Fiona
Please click the picture above to see more images. Roger & Fiona - are looking for a home. Roger is a 6 pound black rabbit, his shiny fur sprinkled with white flecks. He is neutered, about a year old, and is very energetic and loving. He absolutely adores being petted and fussed over, and will sit with you for as long as you will stroke him. Fiona is a gorgeous sable brown dwarf rabbit, spayed, and head over heels in love with Roger. Fiona's previous partner passed away recently so this little girl has been through a lot, nursing her friend through head tilt only to lose him. She was still grieving when she met fun-loving Roger, and what a great addition he has been to Fiona's life! We have never seen her happier or more outgoing. Where she was shy before, now she enjoys being petted, and while she does not quite have Roger's exhuberance, she plays much more and does lots of binkies. Her fur looks like the finest mink. Roger and Fiona would love a home with lots of room to run, and toys to play with, and they would give many hours of enjoyment, entertainment and affection in return.http://www.capefearrabbits.org/adoptables.html

Comet
Please click the picture above to see more images. Comet - is a little Netherland Dwarf looking for a new home. This is one guy who has looks and personality! He is adorable - soft, dark gray fur with white ticking, the cutest little white spot on his nose and those cute little Netherland Dwarf ears. He loves attention - poking his nose through the bars of his pen, hoping for some rubs, and purring in contentment when he gets them! All over body rubs are ever better, of course, and he will happily lay still for as long as you would like to oblige him. This does not mean he is an inactive bunny - he runs around his pen, jumping on boxes at top speed, which is good, as he is currently enrolled in Bunny Weight Watchers. He has a wicker basket he just loves - he sleeps under it, and chews on it for entertainment. He came to us overweight from a poor diet in his previous home, but he is doing very well and already is making progress - Richard Simmons would be proud of him. Comet says to tell everyone "Hi!" and "Pick me! Pick me!"http://www.capefearrabbits.org/adoptables.html

Bear Hi everyone. My name is Bear and I'm a two year old, medium sized, Siamese bunny. I’m a neutered boy who is already micro-chipped! I too have been at the Palo Alto Animal shelter for about a year now and my time is coming up to where I REALLY, REALLY need a new home now. The good people who work with me at the shelter says that I am friendly and outgoing and enjoy spending time with children. Bonus is that I LOVE to be held. Please consider taking me home as well. I’m hoping to be with you over the holidays.

Jasmine is a beautiful charcoal and white Dutch bunny with smarts and attitude! She spent several months living on the mean streets of a dog- and cat-intensive neighborhood, and--though she weighs less than four pounds--she managed to survive by biting anyone who tried to pick her up! Now that she's spayed, she's outgoing, gentle and affectionate, and loves to be stroked. Her litterbox habits are excellent. Please give this attention-loving girl a home!http://www.exoticanimalcare.com/#

Bun of the Month
http://www.houserabbitga.org/bunnynameplates/Bouncer.gif
http://www.houserabbitga.org/AdoptableBuns/bouncer_sniffing_5.06.jpg

Bouncer was in danger of being euthanised at a SC shelter when the Charleston Branch of North Georgia HRS stepped in and rescued him. He was a bit skittish because the shelter had been keeping him in a tiny cage on the floor near the door where the adopted dogs left through. He had nothing to hide in, and usually no hay. Children were freely permitted to pick him up and carry him around without supervision. The explanation the shelter had as to why he was there was that his previous owners had not asked their landlord before purchasing a rabbit and were told they could not keep him.
Bouncer warmed up quickly to his caretakers while he resided in a Petsmart store, but the barking dogs just reminded him of the shelter. While fostered in a home in Charleston, he was playful and affectionate! But as time went on, we thought that he had a better chance in Atlanta. His foster mom explained everything to him and he decided that it was the right move to make. He's now being privately fostered in Atlanta, and is very fond of his new fosterers but excited about the idea of a home of his own!

Bouncer comes by his name honestly and does not sit still for long! But when he does wear himself out, he loves to be petted and doted on! He will present for pets and nose rubs, and then will do some wild binkies as soon as his energy comes back... all of a minute or two.
Bouncer is extremely fond of well-mannered, supervised children. He even loves to hear the sound of children's voices as they play.

Won't you make Bouncer part of your family today?

Mips do you have any pictures of your bunnies?

Was about 30yrs ago so i doubt it, I think my folks might have pics of them on old slides. They were the normal plain old white ones with maybe a brown/black spot here or there.

Also had ducks, the little ones use to chase me around and bite my ankles. Scared me and made me cry

I use the largest size for Bunnies (shown)...this bottle actually comes with two spring holders (one is shown)

Edstrom Water Buddy
The Edstrom Water BuddyTM Drinking Valve has a very low actuation force. It is easily operated by the smallest rodents or birds. The valve is constructed of brass and stainless steel with rugged silicone seals. Water Buddy is not recommended for use with continuous exposure to sunlight. Operation of the Water BuddyTM
To fill the bottle, flip up the top of the cap, and fill with clean water. If your animal does not consume much water in a day, it is not necessary to fill the bottle all the way to the top. However, the water level should always be kept above the "REFILL LEVEL" line on the bottle. Do not allow the water level to go all the way down to the valve, as this last bit of water is dispensed very slowly and may frustrate your animal or bird.
If you use medication in your water, be sure that it is thoroughly mixed and dissolved in the water before you fill the bottle. If any crystals or powder remains undissolved in the water, you risk having the particles becoming lodged in the drinking valve, causing it to leak. See instructions below on how to repair a leaking valve.
After filling the bottle, gently actuate the stem with your finger until the water begins flowing from the valve. See Figure 1.
Check your Water Buddy at least twice a day to confirm that your animals are consuming the normal amount of water.
Refill the bottle daily. Clean and rinse at least weekly or more frequently if medication is being used in the water.
NOTE: The Edstrom Drinking Valve will not operate if the cap is sealed completely on the bottle. For this reason, the cap has a vent hole. Do not replace the cap with a solid cap that might seal the bottle. Turning the bottle upside down will cause water to spill out. (See Figure 1)
Mounting the Water BuddyTM on the cage
Use the mounting spring to secure the bottle to your cage (see Figure 1). Locate the bottle at a height that the animal or bird can easily reach. See Figure 2. Be sure to locate the bottle so the valve is not close to the bedding (rodents will sometimes attempt to insert bedding into the drinking valve causing it to be lodged open, and drip continuously.)
In bird cages the bottle can be mounted near the floor of the cage or near a perch where they can stand while drinking. Once the bottle has been mounted to the cage using the mounting spring, it can easily be removed by simply pulling the spring down and over the bottom of the bottle. The bottle can then be easily lifted out for refilling or cleaning as required. The spring can remain attached to the cage, ready for easy replacement of the bottle. See Figure 3. (Two springs are used to mount the 32 oz bottle).
Training your bird or animal to use the Edstrom Drinking Valve
Most animals and birds learn to use the drinking valve very quickly. Simply activate the valve with your finger while they are watching. The few drops of water that remain inside the barrel of the valve serve to attract them to try to get more. This is most effective if the Water Buddy is located in the vicinity of where their old water source was in the cage, and if they have been without water for a few hours.
After removing the old source of water, it is critical that you watch the animals carefully to confirm they have adapted to using the drinking valve. Make sure they are consuming some water, i.e. the water level in the bottle drops.
Maintenance of your Water BuddyTM
The Water Buddy is constructed of rugged PVC plastic, and can be washed on the top shelf of the dishwasher. Remove the lid first.
If the drinking valve should drip, the problem is probably caused by a piece of sediment getting inside the valve and lodging on the o-ring seal in the valve. The valve can be disassembled and cleaned, and if required, the o-ring can easily be replaced. See Figure 4.

Friendly pair of fluff-balls needs home. Teddy and Butterscotch are a bonded pair of Angora’s, about 5 years old. Teddy is a big boy at about 8 lbs and little Butterscotch is probably only 4 lbs.
They will need frequent combing or short haircuts to keep their hair from matting. Grooming a bunny can be very peaceful and therapeutic and a good way to speed up the bonding between you and your bunny.
Mr. Teddy is the daring explorer of the two, climbing boxes and chairs or venturing into strange rooms while Miss Butterscotch would prefer to stay close to home (their pen), but both become anxious if they are out of each others sight for too long. Papaya tablets are their favorite treat and also good for long haired bunnies.”

He came to VRRA badly neglected, with his fur matted and a bad upper respiratory infection. One hind leg didn't work as well as it should. Hash's respiratory infection became much better and he enjoyed playing in his pen on the lawn and his petting sessions every evening. Slowly he lost strengh in his hind legs but he always remained hungry, bright and interested in the world around him. In the summer of 2005 he was fitted with a K-9 Kart. What a Rabbit is really like

Rabbits are affectionate, amusing and endearing house pets, but few people realize this. VRRA is working hard to remedy this problem. Why don't people realize the kind of pet a bunny makes? Because rabbits suffer from many misconceptionshttp://www.vrra.org/images/Ned_Riley.jpg about what they are really like.
Once you understand what a rabbit is really like you can prepare to be amazed. Each rabbit has his or her own personality. Bunnies will come when called. They will pull at pant legs for attention. They will sleep on the bed with their human and sit on their lap. Rabbits get along with other animals as long as the other animals get along with them. Cats and rabbits can be good companions. Dogs and rabbits will groom each other. Rabbits are eternally curious and interested in their surroundings. They play with toys and they dance with joy. Rabbits kept outside never become family members and their owners are deprived of ever knowing their unique character.
Quick Facts about Rabbits:

Rabbits can live 8 to 12 years.
Rabbits are affectionate, social and interactive animals.

Rabbits need at least 4 hours exercise a day. They cannot live a healthy life shut in a cage.

Rabbits do not like to be picked up.

Rabbits can die of fright and be injured easily.

Rabbits do not make good pets for children.

Rabbits require daily care from a responsible adult.
Rabbits do not like loud noises and sudden movements.

Rabbits should be neutered or spayed. Unaltered rabbits will mark territory with feces and urine, may be aggressive and likely to have health problems.

A rabbit’s diet is very important. The wrong food can kill a rabbit.

Rabbits need to have their nails clipped regularly.

Rabbits require a vet that is knowledgeable about the species
and most importantly...
Rabbits naturally use a litter box
Rabbit litters have very little odour
After some rabbit proofing a rabbit can run free
Rabbits are clean and quiet
Rabbits are ideal pets for working people. They are most active morning and evening and sleep all afternoon. For more info, visit Rabbit House Society: Living with rabbits (http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-5/like-a-rabbit.html)

http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-5/graphics/two-in-hole.gif People who haven't lived with rabbits often ask those who do if rabbits make "good pets," and if so, if they are more like dogs or cats. Most house rabbit people don't quite know how to respond to these questions, not only because we have transcended such mundane matters in our own relationships with rabbits, but also because the chauvinistic nature of the questions themselves makes us feel uncomfortable. It seems that for most people, an animal is perceived as a "good pet" if she shows affection in ways human beings can understand without much effort (e.g., lapsitting or coming when called), if she participates in games humans easily comprehend ("catch," "fetch," or "chase the string"), or if she makes an obvious effort to communicate vocally (barking to be let in or out, mewing for supper). People usually seem fairly sure these qualities cannot be expected in a rabbit, and hence, that rabbits would not make "good pets." Alternatively, some people expect such traits in all rabbits and may be disappointed in one who is unwilling or unable to comply with their expectations.
The second question, "Are rabbits more like cats or dogs?" is a natural to follow the first. My usual response is, "Are people more like fish or cockatoos?" After all, rabbits are, first and foremost, like rabbits, and the only way to find out what they are like is to live with one or more. You'll find that rabbits share a few characteristics with dogs, a few with cats, and a few with humans. They probably even share a few with fish and cockatoos. But mostly they're like rabbits, and learning what rabbits are like is part of the joy of living with them. The fact that this question, like the "good pets" one, is asked at all makes clear the human position that in order to be considered of value in our world, other species must conform to our notions of what is "good."
The other day I sat on the bedroom floor .returning phone calls. Megan, our overweight and very aggressive New Zealand (who, paradoxically, adores being petted), gallumphed up, grabbed the notebook out of my hand, bit a hole out of the corner, and stomped on it. She lunged at my hand as I retrieved the notebook, grazing it with her teeth, then shoved my leg and settled down against me. I grinned at her and stroked her head (as I had just been commanded to do). The caller was telling me about her rabbit, who wouldn't let her pick him up, who lunged and bit when approached, and who seemed to "hate" the family. The family dog, on the other hand, loved the children and played with them all the time; they were disappointed in the rabbit and wanted me to find him a new home.
I looked at Megan, her head pressed to the floor, eyes closed, ears relaxed, fat body spread out behind her. No, she doesn't act like a dog. If a dog lunged and bit you'd be justified in getting worried, because human-canine relations are completely different from those between humans and rabbits. But Megan and the caller's rabbit both act very much like rabbits, each in their own ways. The difference, I realized, is that I accept Megan's aggression (and even revel in it!), while the caller seemed to resent her rabbit because his behavior did not conform to her idea of "a good pet."
The implication that some animals (usually dogs and cats) are simply "better pets" than others rests on the assumption that in order to fit into our lives, all animals should resemble those to whom we are already accustomed. Such an assumption removes the responsibility for the relationship from the human being and places it solely on the animal. Although the rabbit is expected to comply with human expectations, all too often the human being never even considers complying with hers. But in almost every case, a wonderful new relationship is forged when you begin complying with the expectations of a rabbit. Megan accosts me and I react in a way she finds appropriate, even though to me it seems odd at first. After a few weeks, Megan trusts me, likes me, and has me pegged as savvy‹but she still nips my foot if I venture too near her parsley!
Do we expect too much or not enough? I hesitate to tell people not to expect their rabbits to jump up on their legs, leap into their laps, or lick their hands, because some rabbits do these things. But too many people expect such behaviors and express disappointment when their rabbits do not comply. None of the rabbits I live with currently do any of these dog-like things, but over the years I have discovered a range of interesting activities they engage in that the dogs and cats in our family never even thought about. Megan may not jump into my lap, and she's more likely to bite my hand than lick it, but she terrorizes the cats daily, manages to growl in annoyance while simultaneously cavorting with joy across the floor, and makes demands more effectively than any of our noisier critters.
No small part of the problem lies in our use of the term "pet." After all, a pet is "one who is petted," implying passivity and ownership. We seldom call other human beings "pets," and most people would consider it an insult if we did. By using the term to describe animals we are diminishing their importance in our lives. We are denying their right to individuality and a lifestyle that may or may not include allowing us to fawn over them. On the other hand, a rabbit who is a companion is one who‹like our human friends‹is encouraged to develop the personality nature gave her and is appreciated for who she is.
So what should we say when people ask if rabbits are "good pets"? I don't want to assure folks that they are, because I know the implications of the phrase. On the other hand, if I hesitate and explain, they'll think I'm making excuses. They may be unable to see what is special about rabbits. Perhaps those of us who know, through experience, what rabbits are like should decline to answer these questions at all. Instead explain that rabbits make wonderful, exciting, intelligent companions for wonderful, exciting, intelligent people. After all, living up to the expectations of a rabbit like Megan‹or Trixie or Phoebe or Bandit‹ takes a lot of work! Their type of person is adventurous, charmed by evidence of spunk and vigor, and willing to learn a new language, a new lifestyle, and a new code of behavior. Those who live by stereotyping, pigeon-holing, or typecasting need not apply.

Before You Adopt...

Please consider the following:

1. Which adults in the family will be the primary caretakers?
2. Are you prepared for a possible 10-year commitment to this rabbit?
3. Does everyone in your family want a rabbit?
4. Rabbits are considered exotic animals and their veterinary care is expensive; bills can easily reach hundreds of dollars. Are you prepared to provide this level of care, should it be necessary for your pet?
5. Is anyone in your home allergic to rabbits or hay?
6. Do you have an appropriately sized cage (or x-pen) and necessary supplies?
7. Is your home and/or yard "bunny-proofed"?
8. Do you have animals that could endanger the rabbit? (Rabbits can die even when only frightened by a predator.)
9. Have you had a rabbit before? Where is it now?
10. Will you be able to supervise any children around this rabbit?
11. Are you allowed to have rabbits in your house/apartment?
12. If you move, get married, have a baby, or if the kids lose interest, are you prepared to keep your rabbit?

Please make a list of questions you have regarding the care and handling of rabbits. Make sure all your questions are answered by knowledgeable people, prior to adopting your rabbit.

Always adopt from your local animal shelter or the House Rabbit Society

We currently have 8 house rabbits, 3 of which we rescued. I think my wife has finally decided that as they "age out", we won't keep that many again.

http://www.coloradohrs.com/images/Merlin_Tricia_06-117.jpg Merlin and Tricia Merlin and Tricia have set up housekeeping together! These two youngster, both born in the spring of 2006, were lucky to have found their way to us since both of them were facing dire fates, Merlin in a kill-shelter with his time running out and Tricia being dumped as a baby out in the wild with no outdoor survival skills!
Both small bunnies, handsome Merlin (javascript:singlewindow('Merlin.htm')) at 2 lbs and pretty Tricia (javascript:singlewindow('Tricia.htm')) at 3-1/4 lbs, these two youngsters are just as cute as they can be and ready to go out together to a new home, nice people, and life as part of a family. These two were blessed by those who brought them to us; now they hope Merlin's magic will soon have them blessed again with their very own forever home with you.

Hi

I have two male rabbits. One is almost two years (Gysie) and the newest addition (Patches) is almost 7 months old. Both are neutered and after a lengthy process and a lot of patience the two finally bonded. They’ve been playing together for about 2 months now and been living in the same cage for about a week now (huge double storey cage). They are always playing/lying together and constantly grooming each other whether they’re inside or outside the cage. Whenever we give them attention the older one tends to be a little jealous and will nip the younger but never in an aggressive way and only until we leave them alone (or give him all the attention).

Until this evening the younger one would always cringe or just jump away but for the first time tonight he nipped the older one back. Both immediately became aggressive in their stance and started biting the other. The fight became really aggressive and we had to separate them (resulting in me getting a bite on the finger). They were fine for a few minutes when suddenly the younger one attacked the older one again and once again an aggressive fight erupted. The older rabbit only nipped the small one but the latter really went for it – pulling clumps of fur etc.

Is this normal and will they be docile again or will this only escalate?
What can we do about it?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Thank youI would suggest not putting two males together. Each one will fight for dominance, some could fight to the death.

I have 4 bunnies, 2 are acclumated together(male & female)....the female is the dominate bunny. It took a while to get them to live together and love each other, probably about 6 months or more. You start with putting them in each others' cages, alone. to get used to each others smells, then you allow them time togther supervised only......after some time and patience they have become a inseparable loving couple. Both are fixed.

I have two other bunnies who are fixed, but not acclumated. We have to start putting them in each others cages.

It is a long slow process. Our dream is for all four to get along and not fight.

Some bunnies never acclumate, yours may not. Especially 2 males, or even 2 females.

I hope this helps.

We currently have 8 bunnies (3 are rescued) and they are all setup in male/female pairs. We've never had a problem with 2 females bonding but have never had any success getting 2 bucks to settle down.
