I usually just use it through AmaroK. Here's my profile: Linky (http://www.last.fm/user/illusha). Mostly just Mashina Vremeni lately, though. It'd be cool to have an Ubuntu Forums group.

Big fan of www.pandora.com instead of Last.FM. I've never got good results with Last.FM, but Pandora is amazing :)

Pandora's database of songs and their components (ex: Electric Instrumentation, Guitar Solo, Melodic Vocals, Acid Rock Qualities) is amazing. I also like how it suggests songs based on those qualities instead of the supposed genre that the song is in. Maybe it is just me, as a musician that finds this feature better, but I don't know. :P

Yeah I think Last.fm is great. I love the charts and all the features, plus the fact that each band has a group and at least one discussion forum.

copy that!
my last.fm profile (http://www.last.fm/user/totalwormage/)

a search for 'ubuntu' on last.fm doesn't come up with very clear hits and there isn't a ubuntu group on last.fm. is this because the ubuntuforums are just too great and we don't need a separate group to talk about music? or are there just too few linux oriented music bands :]

never found lastfm or pandora any good, found the yahoo personal music player launch cast is pretty good.

To me Last FM has become less oriented towards music fans in the last year or so and much more interested in catering to the Myspace demographic. Shiny things (such as the dashboard) have replaced functionality (like the moderation system to correct badly tagged music).

Last FM is slicker and certainly more robust than it used to be in the days of a separate audioscrobbler, but less somehow compelling.

Can't say I've ever found Pandora any use. It's alright if you know about 4 different bands and want bands exactly the same. Although then again some of the stuff it comes out with is ridiculous (Evergrey similar to HIM.....well I guess they live in cold countries....), never trusted anything like that because most of the stuff I listen to doesn't even turn up.

There is a thread around that let's you use last-exit on dapper. It doesn't work on edgy, at least when it comes to daving the streams to you harddisk. Which is, I guess illegal in a lot of countries ( not in Holland by the way8) )....

Lastfm is my favorite radio-player, but it's not more than that to me. Must say that I did find out "bout some new bands this way. Pandora is okay too....but it's less interactive.

I like last.fm, I've found plenty of new music using it. As far as pandora is concerned:

We sometimes use cookies, as well as tracking technology, such as web beacons, within the promotional emails that we send to our registered user and subscribers or advertisements for our Site. These performance tracking devices help us to track whether an e-mail recipient has completed an event, such as signing up for a free trial for example.

It might not be a big deal to some, but I'm too paranoid to want to deal with that. I never even gave last.fm my email.

I love it. I mainly use it to keep track of what I play and spy on friend's listening habits. I never use the radio-like streams, so that aspect of Last.fm and stuff like Pandora interest me not. I need total control over my own music! It helps when you have a collection that is 25,000+ tunes and growing.

I would love it if the stream was listenable to. It doesn't matter what speed my Internet connection is if I am listening with a standalone player, like last-exit, lastfm player, rhythmbox, mpd there are problem I have to actually use a web browser to listen?

I love it because I'm not into any one particular type of music. I listen to everything from Led Zeppelin to Lindsay Lohan. There is stuff I like, and stuff I don't like, and I can never explain why.

I've fallen in love with it. It's my radiostation of choice, really. Just Neighbourhood Radio or "Sounds Like". I was surprised to find "Sounds like /Artists like Janek Schaeffer" came up with results. Good ones, even.
Oh, I use the Rhythmbox plugin.

It's absolutely fantastic when you find something you like, and you want more in a similar vein, but don't really know what or who to look for.

Some time ago, I stopped using it as it seemed to have a maximum amount of times a song can be played, which caused it to stop playing.
I guess subscribed members don't have this problem :-?

But I'm using it again, especially because it's not possible to listen to your radio station from the website itself (which comes in handy at work :))
