According to TIME magazine the person of the year is... YOU. At least you are if you've ever contributed a video to YouTube, or keep a blog, or write in forums, or even if you submit code to open source projects like LINUX!!!!!!!!!!!!! They call this "user created content", even though I like to think of it as "Open Source Media". Here's a paragraph from CNN that mentions Linux:

America loves its solitary geniuses its Einsteins, its Edisons, its Jobses but those lonely dreamers may have to learn to play with others. Car companies are running open design contests. Reuters is carrying blog postings alongside its regular news feed. Microsoft is working overtime to fend off user-created Linux. We're looking at an explosion of productivity and innovation, and it's just getting started, as millions of minds that would otherwise have drowned in obscurity get backhauled into the global intellectual economy

You hear that. "User created LINUX" is a big news item. I think that if we keep the buzz up about this then next year Linus Torvalds, Eric Raymond, and Richard Stallman will be Persons of the year.

LINUX: User created since before 'user created' was popular.
