Hi, I'd like to get some packages from staging in the Hoary backports. How do I edit my sources.list to enable me to do so?

At the moment my backports repositories look like these:

deb http://backports.ubuntuforums.org/backports/ hoary-backports main universe multiverse restricted
deb http://backports.ubuntuforums.org/backports/ hoary-extras main universe multiverse restricted

Thanks in advance.

Tracey Lowndes.

Open a terminal and type:

sudo cat deb http://backports.ubuntuforums.org/backports/ hoary-backports-staging main universe multiverse restricted >> /etc/apt/sources.list && sudo cat deb http://backports.ubuntuforums.org/backports/ hoary-extras-staging main universe multiverse restricted >> /etc/apt/sources.list && sudo apt-get update ; echo That is it

That should work :-|

Hey bored2k, here's the post again lol.

I get the following error when updating...

W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hoary/universe Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hoary_universe_ binary-i386_Packages)

I feel like a n00b but I am really lost when trying to fix this, I don't want to mess anything up, even if I know where it's at.

Also, here is my sources.list.

Don't worry about that error -- it just means that you somehow included Universe twice in the sources.list.

You can safely ignore it -- nothing bad will happen!
