View Full Version : Funny command line flag combos

Does anyone have some commands that they run often with flags that spell out words? It's hard for me to explain, so just take my example:
I have been using
ls -thor a lot lately.

There's plenty of other words I could spell out with the ls options, but I find this combo particularly useful. I'm just wondering if other people end up spelling things with options like this.

No it's not; that one sentence was more than enough to understand what you meant.

I always run

ps fax
myself.
Oddly enough, this does not produce a fax - either on paper, or anywhere else.
If I'm feeling adventurous, I might even run:

ps faux

bit offtopic, but I think the 'glxgears -iacknowledgethatthistoolisnotabenchmark' is still the best attribute I have ever given to a command :D

I always thought cdrdao's -use-the-force-luke option was pretty funny.

I never knew about that one :D What does it do? I couldn't find it with from cdrdao's manual.

mcduck,

I got my command-line CD apps mixed up, I meant growisofs. Link (http://www.linuxcommand.org/man_pages/growisofs1.html).
