View Full Version : Personality Test for programmers (and other people, too!)

I saw this on Digg.com.

Over the years, for various reasons I have taken the Myers-Briggs personality profile test. It's an impressive exam when taken it it's full form--something like 600 questions.

Here's a short form I ran across today with just 69 questions. It was still quite accurate for me and I thought it might be a fun cafe topic. Anyone else interested? Click here for the test (http://www.eggheadcafe.com/articles/mb/default.asp) and then post your four letter and paragraph summary.

Here's mine:
ENFP - Actors, journalists, writers, musicians, painters, consultants, psychologists, psychiatrists, entrepeneurs, teachers, counselers, politicans, diplomats, television reporters, marketers, scientists, sales representatives, artists, clergy, public relations, social scientists, social workers.. Very creative and fun-loving, they excel at careers which allow them to express their ideas and spontaneity.

INTP - Physicists, chemists, biologists, photographers, strategic planners, mathematicians, university professors, computer programmers, computer animators, technical writers, engineers, lawyers, forensic researchers, writers, artists, psychologists, social scientists, systems analysts, researchers, surveyors. Highly analytical, they can discover connections between two seemingly unrelated things, and work best when allowed to use their imagination and critical thinking.

Really quite accurate for me.

edit: also on the results page there is a whole page linked of detail which is way too close..

I forgot one thing. I have a BA in music. My instrument is the piano. Where does this fit in with ISTJ? :-kI'm going to take a wild guess and say you are probably the sort of musician who excels at learning complex pieces and playing them accurately. You are probably pretty good at seeing all the individual pieces and how they fit together in a large, orchestrated piece. You are occasionally frustrated with your compositional skills because, while technically correct your pieces may not be quite as imaginative as those of some of your collegues/classmates...the things you write are good, but not necessarily great. In general you prefer to play for others while they take the spotlight although you are good enough to play solo concerts. Oh, and you probably don't enjoy improvisation nearly as much as perfecting a difficult piece of music and playing it well.

Was I close?
