This is a view on how things should work in case all linux vendors decide to join forces:
- The distro would debian based with osx style filesystem hierarchy (see gobolinux).
- Wine should install ALL windows applications the debian way so that all applications installed by wine are available in synaptic.
- Applications run by wine should have the same load/save dialog as gnome (or viceversa :-))
- Mouse should smoothly move around the desktop as in windows/kde
- The Desktop should be eble to EXACTLY resemble the aspect of Windows, OSX and Redhat
Redhat: developer of virtualization tools and bridge tools with windows (server side)
Novell: developer of bridge tools with windows together with redhat (server side)
Ubuntu: developer of desktop manager gnome (desktop side)
Sun : developer of office suite (desktop side)
Adobe : developer of graphic tools for linux too (desktop side)
I would like to say "I use linux because it is used by most people"
