Why would you when Wine cost 100% less and is the same thing, (doesn't matter much to me, I never use any Window$ apps, all Linux, they do the job fine)

Wine runs windows apps as linux apps, win4lin runs windows within linux.

So Win4Lin is essentially... VMWare?

Nope, Win4lin is still alive. I used to used back in the dark ages, and I still try the odd new release, but it may be just about the worst emulation solution for Windows in terms of speed. I've never been able to justify buying it after the first time, even though I still get junk mail from them several times a year trying to lure me back.

didn't realize you had to buy it...just came across it and was curious....I honestly don't need windows applications...

I know they do different things but Ive been using the crossover office beta for a week or so now. I think its great and am thinking about buying it. I like the MS word document viewer feature for free, I never knew this existed.
Crossover seems to work with the few programs Ive thrown at it.
