The URL you provided has a link to the tarball (source code) of the Thunar version that looks like this. I'd wait for it to become official if I were you, though, unless you like playing with experimental software.

i did notice the tarball, but was told it was just a mockup so didn't bother. i'm using thunar as my main FM, so i'm abit scared to try it out. BUT, i've got a VM i can try it out in 8) i'll try it out tomorrow :D

I want this one: http://evidence.sourceforge.net/

It's been in development for years, just like the rest of E17. I built it once but it was too buggy to use. Maybe it's better now.

you could try something like krusader http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=10214

edit: or you can use konqueror and use the split view function. Just right click on the bottom part of the window.
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/8770/snapshot2hv6.th.jpg (http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/8770/snapshot2hv6.jpg)

then it can look like this
http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/7619/snapshot3yw4.th.jpg (http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/7619/snapshot3yw4.jpg)
and if you do this a couple of times it can look like this
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4861/snapshot5ur8.th.jpg (http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4861/snapshot5ur8.jpg)

then save it using the settings --> Save view profile button
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/9489/snapshot4ak0.th.jpg (http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/9489/snapshot4ak0.jpg)
you can here create your own profile for this particular type of konqueror setup

It is Baghira indeed. But don't install the version found in the repositories. You need to compile from source, otherwise you won't be able to configure the file browser. It's all KDE.

If you dont use it, at least the guy who made teh webpage and site is funny ...

...Safari.
Apple took the khtml engine, wrote their own Browser and called it "Safari" (probably because "Settler" would not have made a good name, or because they like the Beach Boys, or just because the internet reminds them to a savannah - boring and empty most of the time, but has some really great moments... who cares)
Well, while with Window$, surfing the internet would be really close to entering the wild, Linux does not need such things and as we tend to be purists (ok, "were...") - there is no Safari on KDE. von http://baghira.sourceforge.net/screenies.php

Introduction

There's a funny thing around Software, and i think especially about OpenSourceSoftware:
Everyone around want's to see some Screenshots before using it.
Readmes? Manpages??? - Who cares about that stuff?
"We want a Screenshot!!!"
"You'll see it right after installing anyway..."
"We want a screenshot!!!!"
"Well, errm... don't you think, this becomes somewhat boring, monotone...? Right...?"
"SCREEEEENSHOOOTS!!!"
...
..... :)
....... =)

Well, i guess this is a fast world and a picture can say more than even a million words.
(Proof? What do you think, how many blind guys read the Playboy?)
In fact they do make sense for a style. (But i had a guy who insisted on a shot of a shell app...;)
So as i assume you clicked this page first, i'll use this section for some kind of shameless self promotion (but it's marked in the title, so you can't sue me)

*Sigh* Stop making me mildly want Mac OSX! :P

With it's nice BSD back-end and beautiful Aqua front-end! And intensive integration between applications! :P

If only it wasn't proprietary...

But I've been hoping for a Linux file manager to have the Finder-like thing. It'd finally take me away from mc :P I love it. But I saw a Qt widget developed that does this exact thing a while ago... They should have made a Finder clone of it :P

Edit: Oops, double post...

Weee! This is fun! If only it'd open the associated program when I double clicked on the file... *coder_ looks at the source*

That's Finder. You get it when you get a Mac.

http://store.apple.com/

The funny thing is, there are Mac users who HATE the fact that Finder looks like that, because it looks nothing like the rest of the desktop. There are those of us who install a 3rd-party theme just to counteract the braindead choice of brushed-metal interface.

http://gui.interacto.net/

Seriously, Finder, regular OS X apps, iTunes, Mail.app all look different. Way different. Why?

And why are fanboys so intent on making other operating systems into the multi-look-and-feel mess that OS X has become?

Thunar is indeed a bit like Finder; actually, it's based on the look-and-feel of standard GTK+ dialogs. It's more than a mockup, it's in the Ubuntu repos, and it rocks if you like that sort of thing.

If you don't mind several levels of ugly, you could install enough of GNUstep to get GWorkspace: http://www.gnustep.it/enrico/gworkspace/

I heartily encourage further GNUstep development, then maybe we can get rid of the whole GNOME/KDE mess. ;)
