View Full Version : Sonbird In Ubuntu

I've submitted a feature request for songbird-inclusion in Ubuntu. Right now the Ubuntu developers are saying that Songbird is not ready to be included in Ubuntu but it looks promising in the longrun. For the time being I'm suggesting that Ubuntu users who like Songbird should make efforts to contribute to Songbird so that when Songbird is released it works well on Ubuntu. This can be done by reporting bugs and making feature requests at http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/ when necessary.

I like songbird, but it's just not stable enough. It shows los of promise and some great ideas. BUt at the moment (well, on the last try i gave it), it wouldn't find all my library (amarok, exaile and rhythmbox all can), would play videos very strangley (jumpy framerate, miss-cued sound, etc). I love the look of it, and once it's further in development, I'm sure I'll love it.

I had problems with the sound streaming too... Instead of pausing and buffering it just kept playing nothing so it missed out parts of the songs. I also had problems with dragging the gui and the media library. That said it is an excellent program and really looks good for the future. All they really need to do is get rid of some of the quirks.
