Question on MySQL Install

I'm about ready to re-install mysql on a new LAMP. The last time I installed it, during the install dialog, I selected Internet as an option. As a result of this past installation, each time I booted up I got a postifx crab at boot (fixed itself as it recyled through). I want to avoid a re-occurrence this time around. I would appreciate guidance on the correct MySQL option on install to avoid a re-occurrence of this boot propblem. I will be using the LAMP only for development and not accessing the outside nor as a mail server.
