mPlayer installation in home directory

I'm just on getting mPlayer for Ubuntu.

Now, is there any way to install it in my home directory?

Already tried to run

./configure
make

and not doing the make install? The executable should then appear in the same folder :-) Simply do a ./mplayer :-)
