Ouch. I would hate to have a laptop randomly explode on me. Good thing Sony recalled all of their batteries, even though the batteries used in the video were forced to explode. It kinda creeps me out that a laptop could randomly explode if it overheats.

Someone in my family ended up with a roasted Dell thanks to those batteries. They are in the middle of getting a replacement laptop from Dell

this has forced sony's markeshare to plummet from what ive heard, and a lot of bad publicity came from this as well.

I always keep those things in mind when im in the middle of a lecture and sitting there with my laptop on my lap, thinking "Gee, I hope this thing doesn't just burst into flames right now".

Linux HAL has been putting in a new feature where it'll tel you if your laptop battery was recalled automatically. a very nifty feature considering it works with all batteries.
