Oh man, "Mark Shuttleworth has a posse"(from the readme)...that had me rolling. :-D

Pretty nice, but if you didn't make it, where did you find it? :)

Exactly where it hangs, the Marketing Team's webspace, of course. Not to mention the discussion within the MT's IRC channel, #ubuntu-marketing. I'm sure I saw lotusleaf in there quite a few times ツ (grep -c: 274)

Oh man. Mark Shuttleworth has a posse! If I had any graphical skills at all.....

The posters are my work; I took lotusleaf's ideas from the IRC channel & ran with them - the whole idea of the 'rough' poster also meshed with some ideas I wanted to explore in Inkscape & general design, so it was nice timing all around.

As for "Shuttleworth Has A Posse" - I might be persuaded to actually design that poster... I am open to flattery, bribery or suggestions. :D

The requested URL /~marketing/DIY Material/Ubuntu_Posters_Roughcut/Ubuntu-roughcut.png was not found on this server.Looks like that's over? :(

I get the same

Looks like that's over? :(

It shouldn't be, that's supposed to be the Marketing Team's permanent archive! :(

I'll poke at it, and poke the folks who actually run that site...

In the meantime, the same content is also available (temporarily) at http://ubuntu-ca.org/Ubuntu_roughcut_poster/.

The Marketing Team site is run on BZR, and frankly, trying to figure BZR out is best summed up this way: ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Those are so freaking sweet, I think I'm going to cry.

I got poked.

Sorry, the site mirrors the bzr branch, I fiddled with it, and messed up. It's back to normal now.
However, it does go blank once every 24 hrs to update.

Thanks! Here's a copy on the Ubuntuforums server, just encase there's any extra problems:

What about an inverse version if that? It would use a lot less ink at larger sizes, which would be great for me, because ink is far from free. Plus it might look nice, i'm personally banging my head against inkscape trying to figure out a way to invert it, so far no good, i suppose i could just rasterize it and invert in gimp, but that's no fun... Plus i want a svg (yeah i know it could trace it back into svg, i don't want that, though it could improve the roughness (or ruin it, who knows)

cheers

anything with more resolution?

Hi

Just took a print out. Beautiful. I second Dan's idea of a inverse design. Would use lot less ink and I am sure would look as good.

Thanks!!!!!

I inverted it myself in gimp and took it upon myself to pixelize it, i think it looks kinda cool, it starts out really aliased at the top and gets clearer and clearer until "ubuntu". Not quite as cool as yours, but 10x as nerdy :-) I'll host the xcf somewhere, but here's the png right now (scaled huge because someone said the word "poster")

I'll do a proper SVG & PNG inverted-colour version in the next few days - it would save a lot of ink.

A larger (say 150dpi or 300dpi) PNG is also easy to produce; of course, you can also use the SVG to do this at home!

These silly things are high up in Digg's rankings, and they've just made Planet Ubuntu too - apparently it's a silly idea with legs... ;)

I just inverted this SVG for you guys. Hope you like it. Was kinda tedious finding every object and swapping the color around. Pretty sure I got every last bit.

anything with more resolution?
The SVG files are vector graphics, which means you can zoom in infinitely and it will never pixelize. I did notice that the default gnome image viewer "Eye of Gnome" still manages to pixelize it for some reason.

Inkscape is a good SVG editor/viewer. If you install that and view the images they will look better. You can print from Inkscape too, though it seems the print options are pretty limited. Maybe someone knows another good viewer program for SVGs that is good at printing too?

Eye of gnome pixelizes it because it renders the svg at the resolution specified in the svg doc (or rather at the size and dpi of the "page") and THEN scales it. Which kinda defeats the purpose of having SCALABLE vector graphics, if it rasterizes before it scales it...

I was disappointed that there is no xubuntu version, so I tried to make one myself! I did it sort of rushed and I'm not very experienced with Inkscape, but I still like how it turned out. I got the mouse here (http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php?content=42329&PHPSESSID=e3d4a3b62114ca54685a06ca05e00507). Xubuntu needs representation, too! Just my 2 cents and 3 image files.

Madpilot has released a new poster 'SABDFL Has A Posse'. I've updated the first post on page 1 of this thread with a thumbnail preview.

Grab the .PNG and .SVG here (http://lotusleafslinks.tuxfamily.org/obeyubuntu/).

Alrighty, I'm liking the idea of printing this out on T-shirts...
Gimme some time to research...

Updated first post in this thread with a new poster by Madpilot, updated versions of previous posters, announcement of the posters rolled together in one downloadable .zip file dubbed (unofficially, of course) "The Ubuntu Poster Pack" (http://lotusleafslinks.tuxfamily.org/obeyubuntu/index.html) for all the goodies in one easy file. Here's a snippet from Madpilot's readme file which is also included in the .zip, modified in formatting by me a bit for this posting:

V3.0 Additions:
* Modified the copyright notice on both the Ubuntu & Kubuntu graphics.
* Modified this readme to follow suite.
* EPS version of the Ubuntu roughcut graphic.
'Inverted' Ubuntu roughtcut graphic in SVG & PNG - white background, black foreground - to be a bit easier on people's ink supplies if they're printing these at home!"

Download (http://lotusleafslinks.tuxfamily.org/obeyubuntu/index.html) it now!
