View Full Version : Best DJ mixing software?

November 8th, 2006, 06:27 PM
Hi my fellow ubuntu-ers!

I have this simple but important question:

Is there any good DJ mixing software, to be used on a laptop or desktop running ubuntu dapper/edgy?

Thanx for any suggestions!

Greetings from Greece!

Have you tried LMMS?

'FunkYou' (nice name!) but it seems is no longer developed, you can find the source/binary on SorceForge...

I am using Virtual DJ for Windows, which can also be installed in Ubuntu using wine... (see Virtual DJ forum for more info)

Thanx for the info! Well, I've tried Ultramixer and it's good, but it isn't free as in free speech, so I'm looking for something totally open source.
Lmms is nice for music production but I am looking for mixing software to perform live.

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried Mixxx?

I really like it, it's sort of like Traktor.

More apps are listed here:

There's Audacity, but I doubt that's what you're talking about.

I tried it and it made me send the following to their staff:

I tried to get a good impression of your program, but this really wasn't possible as your strange licensing scheme prevented me running it on smaller resolution screen. Anyway I really don't see the use of a so called free personal version if infact it is a cripplet try before buy version. I call it crippled becouse of the limited screenresolutions and the waittime during startup. It's something you'd expect of a shareware prog. I would kindly ask you to reconsider the licensing scheme or just call it what it is. Try before buy.

Same strange error messages for me. No freebie by the looks of it. Just wasted a few hours trying to set it up for my son.
