Right about here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=l&hl=en&q=&near=Coffs+Harbour+NSW+Australia&ie=UTF8&z=12&ll=-30.287235,153.127098&spn=0.205152,0.43396&om=1)

A regional city with about 70,000 people. Large Banana plantations cover the low lying hills behind the city, with wooded mountains behind that. There are many islands off the coast, the most outlying one with a lighthouse, and the closest is joined by breakwall to the mainland to create the harbour/marina. There is a university here (Southern Cross University - named after the constellation) which is why i moved to here. I'm originally from about 100km south of here.

Coffs Harbour has won several awards internationally, such as most liveable city under 70000, and best climate under 70000, (if my memory serves me correct).

There are several resorts in and near the city as well.

Sister City is Sasebo in Japan

Cool thread... I am interested in where other Ubuntu users live.

I'm just looking at a map of the London metropolitan area... I should no longer complain about the spaghetti-like tangle of interstate highways where I live. :???:

Here's my general neighborhood: http://tinyurl.com/y3kp9m

I live in the north-central United States. My hometown is St. Paul, but my current abode is in Little Canada, which is about 5 miles north of downtown St. Paul, which is the capital city of the state of Minnesota, which is part of the Twin Cities general metropolitan area of over 3,000,000 people.

Little Canada was founded in the early 1800's by French-Canadian settlers who came from Quebec province in Canada. Many "Petit-Canadiens" can trace their lineage back to emigrants who left France in the early 1600's to settle New France (now the eastern Canadian provinces). Thanks to my local history center, I was able to trace my family's heritage back to 1610 in Amiens and Rouen, France.

Who says Americans aren't culturally and historically conscious?? We have a lot more history than the rest of the world gives us credit for. ;-)

I love living here. We have four beautiful seasons, many lakes, parks, forests, restaurants, and of course, that famous tourist attraction, the Mall of America. :???:

This sheathing mass of humanity the largest concentration of heavy industry in the United Kingdom and its second busiest port. This place has built a fair bit of the world, (just check the side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge).

A conurbation of 600,000 people in 200 square miles doesn't seen that much but what land isn't housing is industry although a few minuets (Practically on foot) to the south is the beautiful North York moors.

Also this is one of the few places in UK to have an place named after somewhere in America (Rather than the reverse).

The next time I am at McMurdo Base and can catch a helicopter to your area, I would be glad to pop in for a scone and some tea. Strong, with just a bit of milk. :-D

Speaking of life outside of apartments/basements/flats/barns/homes/wherever, I like using Linux; Ubuntu in particular. It's all I use at home. If I had a lot more time (as in early retirement, or winning a huge lotto prize) I would probably spend more time here on my computer learning about Python or other programming languages. Last time I did much programming was in 1999, using Visual Basic. Before that, regular old DOS BASIC and... ugh, I'm aging myself here... :-k

I like to explore my environs wherever I am. I love hiking, geocaching, amateur astronomy, bicycling, inline skating, canoes and boating. Outside is good (except at +38 and -28 C).

Doesn't matter. In today's U.S.A. I am probably on the blacklist just for belonging to a Linux forum, via the Gates-Bush connection. . .

Here i am. Right in the center of Copenhagen.

I live by the red circle and go to school in the green. My old school where my little brother goes now is marked by the blue circle. I guess I'm a little local :)

It is, but its mostly used for "official" training of the universities aquatic sport teams like swimming and waterpolo. You also have to wear speedos for men or "complete" bathing suits for women (no bikinis) so its not really used for any other purposes. Here in venezuela we have the best climate ever 25-30C year round :). However, this is a valley 1000 meters above sea level so climate can be a little crazy. But its beautiful most of the year. I love the campus :) the gardens in front are nice to clear your head after a long day of classes and work.
