I have Virtual PC 2004 (it's free now) and I installed Debian first, but when I run the X Windows System the video is whacked and I can barely see any graphics at all. I can make out the icons, menu, and mouse but that's about it.

What I need to know is either 1) how to "run" gnome through a Debian command prompt or 2) how to fix the graphics settings so I can view the X Windows System.

Or is this even possible in Virtual PC?

Virtual PC doesn't support Linux as well as VMware, from what I hear. Search the wiki (help.ubuntu.com) and the forums for vmware server. It works very well.

So, Linux doesn't have any problem running through VMware? And you have to purchase VMware, correct?

VMware player (or was that server?) is free.
