A JDK is a pre-requisite. Unpack the archive and ran the eclipse executable.

Addons like VE, EMF, etc, can be added through the update interface in Eclipse, so don't bother downloading them.

Just unpack the archive file and click or run the eclipse executable

Let me point you to the wiki (http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/EclipseIDE/view?searchterm=eclipse). It got me up and running in no time.

Hi this is not an ubuntu problem, but I can;t find the eclipse forum in google.

When I try and drag and drop anything to a JPanel, it doesn't work.
