similarly to the way kde does things, gnome will soon have it due to the changes in gtk 2.10.

ouch! that screenshot is the best argument against such a thing. it leads to madness.

i think it was just for demonstration purposes ;). note that each colour is bright so that all the components (eg button background, etc) are clearly seperated. when i designed a gtk theme, i did exactly the same for the gtkrc file where the colours are defined - i set each component to be a bright colour so that i could easily recognise it from the rest.

That diffently hurt my eyes or at least my monitor...
