My personl view of Kubuntu may be simplistic, but I think it is relevant.

For the most part I believe the average user wants an OS to provide them with the means to run some specific applications and to allow them to access the web. They are not interested in the nitty gritty of configuring the OS further.

I fall into that category and now feel 100% comfortable using Kubuntu. :D

I have it personalised to suit my needs re appearance. I use the following applications:

OpenOffice Write and Sheet
Python
Glade
The GIMP
Kate
Gedit
Ksnapshot
Firefox

I concentrate on programming using the required apps above, I dont get down and dirty with configuring further the OS.

Some people are of the opinion that Linux requires you to be a geek or whatever in order to use it.

I have put a few people on the path of enlightenment to prove that this is not so.

The point of this post?

Why simply to say why on earth would you not want to use such an fantastic OS??

:D
